Matter, memory and transformation.

Mar Ortega’s practice explores matter as a space of memory, transformation and knowledge. Through painting, monotype, collage and various processes of intervention on canvas, paper and metal, she constructs images in which time, traces and the unforeseen actively participate.

Her work unfolds within the tension between control and chance, permanence and disappearance. Layers, fragments, displacements and accidents remain visible on surfaces that invite slow looking, attentive to what changes and to what persists after transformation.
